Resumen:
The state banking system plays a significant role in promoting the development and consolidation of alternative markets. In the case of the Province of Buenos Aires (Argentina), a set of experiences linked to cooperative forms of production, distribution, and consumption can be identified.In this presentation, we are interested in analyzing the initiative of the Banco Provincia de Buenos Aires regarding its so-called "Cuenta DNI, a virtual wallet that includes a series of benefits for its holders in terms of popular markets. Cuenta DNI is integrated with a policy of the Government of the Province of Buenos Aires called "Mercados Bonaerenses," an instrument that supports and promotes a set of initiatives of the Social Economy aimed at the production of healthy and affordable food. Currently, the banks programme has 7.8 million users.In conclusion, the initiative of the Banco Provincia with Cuenta DNI, along with the "Mercados Bonaerenses" instrument of the provincial government, can be understood as a meeting point between financing tools and the promotion of alternative and local food markets.
