Phenomenological Psychology and Transcendental Phenomenology in Alfred Schutz?s Work

My aim in the present paper is twofold. First, I intend to presentSchutz´s interpretation of the relation and difference between transcendentalphenomenology and phenomenological psychology; and second, to analyze thereasons that make him opt in favor of the latter over the former. In order toachieve these two objectives, I will proceed in four steps. (1) First, I willanalyze Schutz´s unusual and unorthodox approach to Husserl´s work; (2) second,I will scrutinize his reading of Husserlian transcendental phenomenology; (3)third, I will examine his interpretation of the relationship betweentranscendental phenomenology and phenomenological psychology; (4) and finally,I will reconstruct the programmatic and philosophical reasons that motivate hispreference for the latter.
