Resumen:
In this paper we discuss the petrographic techniques used in the study and classification of the Patquía Formation sandstones (Permian), outcropping along three geological profiles at northern Precordillera Central, province of San Juan. The significance as thermal indicators of different textural varieties of polycrystalline quartz (BLG, SGR and GBM) included in these rocks is also analyzed to discriminate the metamorphic grade reached by the rocks in the provenance area.
