Resumen:
The family Dicistroviridae comprises two genera and abouttwenty species of RNA virus, most of them with health or agriculturalimportance. The Triatoma virus (TrV) is the only entomopathogenic virusidentified in triatomine bugs up to the present. TrV replicates withinintestinal epithelial cells, causing high mortality rate and delayeddevelopment of the molt of these bugs. TrV has been proposed asbiological control agent for vectors of Chagas disease. Viral particleswere purified from feces of 1, 5 and 10 insects from an experimentalcolony of Triatoma infestans infected with TrV and presence and viralconcentration were corroborated using polyacrylamide gels. In this workwe report a method of viral purification that allows reduction ofnecessary reagents and time, and using a very small amount of fecalmatter.
