Resumen:
The physic-chemical and biological composition of the reservoir´s effluents directly influences the quality of water. The values of variables such as the concentration of Chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) are indicators of pollution and affect the eutrophication of them. The objective of this work was to monitor the trophic status and water quality of the Cassaffousth reservoir (Córdoba, Argentina) through the development of statistical models based on field data and satellite information. During 2016-2017, samples were taken bimonthly at the reservoir. Seven sampling sites were selected and physical-chemical and biological parameters were assessed in situ and in the laboratory. Using regression techniques, the satellite information was associated to the field data to construct and validate a statistical model to determine the distribution of the concentration of Chl-a (R2: 0.87) in the reservoir. The algorithm generated was used to build maps that contained information about the dynamics of Chl-a in the entire surface of the reservoir under study. These techniques can be used to expand the knowledge on the dynamics of the Cassaffousth reservoir, of which there are very few antecedents, and also they can be applied as baselines to develop an early warning system of both this and other reservoirs in the region.
