Resumen:
Derivatives from the cannabis plant were used as medicinal agents and recreative drugs for thousands of years in ancient cultures. The endocannabinoid system is an endogenous cell system consisting of the endogenous ligands, endocannabinoids, the cannabinoid receptors, and the enzymes of synthesis and metabolism. Since cannabinoid system is involved in cell division, autophagy, and apoptosis process, the activation of cannabinoid receptors or the inhibition of endocannabinoids degradation induce antitumoral respons- es. Nowadays, there are growing experimental and clinical evidences that cannabinoid- treatment can induce reduction of tumor size, rate of cell cancer proliferation and also can exert analgesic effects. Here we describe the effects of cannabinoids for the treatment of breast cancer.
