Resumen:
We present a detailed analysis about the electromagnetic response of a metamaterial surface with alocalized defect. The excitation of electromagnetic surface waves leads to a near-field distribution showinga periodic dependence along the metamaterial surface. We find that this periodic pattern provides adirect demonstration of the forward or backward surface wave propagation
