Resumen:
The fluorescence of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) or ions can be used for in situ detection anddose enhancement purposes in X-ray irradiation applications. This study is focused on the fullintegration of the chemical synthesis of silver nanoparticles suitable for dosimetry andradiology purposes with characteristics that can be exploited in radiotherapy andradiodiagnosis. A narrow size distribution and a compatible stabilizing agent is often desired inorder to obtain homogeneous behaviours in nanoparticle suspension. For that purpose AgNPswere synthesized and used in Fricke gel dosimetry (FGD). Therefore, the main goal of this studywas to synthetize AgNPs compatible with FGD and assess their potential as fluorescent agentsfor characteristic radiation detection, while studying the dose enhancement because of silverphotoelectron emissions.
