Resumen:
Radiotherapy technologies have evolved rapidly during the past decades, which allows for many innovative radiotherapy options. Although modern technological advances, such as hadrontherapy, often reduce the toxicity and improve patient ́s outcomes, they are also associated with increased financial costs, thus producing substantial differences among high- and low-income countries.Recently proposed novel teletherapy devices based on convergent X-ray beams have proven to attain highly concentrated dose delivery to the target, thus providing alternatives to highly conform dose distributions by means of photon spread-out peak deposition because of the inherent convergent properties. On the other hand, the recent development FLASH radiotherapy induce an issue known as the flash radiobiological effect, whereby the toxicity to normal tissues and organs is significantly reduced, when compared to conventional radiotherapy, due to the ultra-high dose rates.
