The mafic-ultramafic rocks of the Las Águilas deposit occur 30 Km. NE of San Luis city, Argentina. Their outcrops have a NE-SW bearing, parallel to regional orientation of the Sierra Grande de San Luis. In this area the presence of platinum group element (PGE) has been mentioned before by different authors. In this contribution we explore the possibility of PGE plus Ni and Cu associated with them, being the result of an early sulfide segregation which extracted them from the magma and analyze the relationship between the type of magma and the relative abundances of the recognized mafic-ultramafic rocks in the Las Aguilas deposit.
