Resumen:
The identification of stockwork-type mineralizations in the northern portion of the Cerro Áspero Mining District (Sierra de Comechingones) was possible by using ASTER sensor data. In this contribution we applied different digital image processing methods in order to obtain a precise delimitation and the mapping of these mineralizations. Supervised Classification seemed to be the most effective digital technique for this purpose. In the obtained Thematic Map it was possible to distinguish the development and extension of the stockwork mineralization. The ASTER processing in conjunction with geophysical data and field evidences, permitted to corroborate that the stockwork formation postdated the emplacement of Los Cerros Pluton, the most evolved granitic unit of the Cerro Aspero batholith. It is here proposed that the studied hydrothermal processes would not be associated with the Cerro Áspero outcropping plutons, otherwise they could derive from the evolution of non-exhumed granitic intrusions related to the Achalian orogeny.
