Resumen:
The present international economic context is characterized by an increasing interdependence of the economies and finances and by a high degree of trade competition. The arrival of emergent economies, such as China, has generated an important impact in the economies of Latin America. The size of China?s economy allow us to think the participation of all Latin American countries, a phenomenon reflected in the increase of trade flows between both regions. The objective of this paper is to analyze Chinese policies towards the region and link them with the role of Latin America in the international economic system and the possibilities of reformulating its participation given the fading influence of traditional actors in the region, such as the United States and the European Union. We will take into account the challenges and opportunities that the involvement of this emergent economy can generate in the region.
