Resumen:
Tuberculosis, caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, remains a major globalhealth problem accounting for millions of deaths annually. Previously, we foundthat proinflammatory (M1) macrophages exposed to the acellular fraction ofpleural effusionsfrom TB patients (TB-PE) displayed a reduced glycolytic activityby targeting the hypoxia- inducible factor (HIF)-1α expression, and ultimatelyimpairing the resistance to infection. Such properties were driven bypolyunsaturated fatty acid metabolites within TB-PE fractions. In particular, wefound that the abundances of 18-HEPE, 7(R)-Maresin 1, Protectin Dx andResolvin D5 correlated with the inhibition of M1 macrophages’ glycolysis(p
