THREE BODY WAVE FUNCTIONS FOR THE HE ATOM IN THE S-WAVE APPROXIMATION FOR DIFFERENT SCATTERING BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

Resumen:
To study the dynamics of two electrons in presence of a heavy ion it is necessary to solve the three-body Schödinger  equation together with the boundary conditions associated to the process being considered. For the continuum part of the spectrum, the three-body scattering boundary conditions are under discussion. Most of the numerical methods employed to obtain the scattering solutions uses a partial wave decomposition of the Hamiltonian (in spherical coordinates) and obtain a multichannel scattering wave function containing the amplitudes of excitation and/or ionization. The asymptotic conditions are fixed  by the procedure (the basis employed or through numerical methods) and correspond to those where all channels are mixed.In this work we propose an expansion of the radial three-body scattering wave functions in a basis set which includes the proper asymptotic behavior for only one channel.  We impose outgoing boundary conditions associated to each electron.
