Resumen:
Currently, the PMTs of the AMIGA muon counters are being replaced with SiPMs without performing any substantial modifications to the counter mechanical design. We present a calibration study for a prototype module paired with the Toune surface detector (ID: 688). In this prototype, a Hamamatsu S12572-100C SiPM was attached to customized front-end electronics and the standard AMIGA back-end. In addition, a study concerning gain stability and temperature variation is presented. The temper- ature compensation mechanism for the SiPMs reduces gain variation associated with temperature dependence by a factor of 20. Finally, we show a comparison between traces measured by both photo detectors (PMT and SiPM) for modules paired with the same surface detector. The results show that the SiPM response is comparable to the PMT response and well above noise level.
