Blockchain for the Open Dev of Astronomy

An interoperability catalyst or (Open) Development driver based on (Open) blockchain technology is considered for Astronomy & Astrophysics Education, Research and Development from K-12 to tertiary-research level. The challenge for the astronomical community is to build a store-of-value and value-added programmable incentive layer upon open Blockchain protocol standards. The demonstrably steep decline in the half-life index metric of PhD Astronomy majors in public US universities and associated national systems or brain drain flight to other industries should be sufficient motivation for the exploration of such a catalyst, for which open development metrics could be established and monitored so that open blockchain funding mechanisms based on the desired evolution of these metrics considered and developed by community for the community.
