Resumen:
The scientific goal of SG´s PhD project is to investigate the Baryonic Tully-Fisher (BTF) law by observing a large number of gas-rich galaxies selected from the HI Parkes All Sky Survey (HIPASS). These galaxies are late-type and intrinsically faint. The scientific objectives of this project - to establish the generality of the BTF relation, measure its intrinsic slope and estimate how tight it is - an important constraint on models of galaxy formation. This constraint will be set by the BTF relation, a relation between the mass of the stellar-plus-gas baryons in the disk and the depth of the potential well set by the dark halo.
