Resumen:
Metabolic Syndrome (MeS) is a risk factor for breast cancer (BCa).Molecular mechanisms underlaying this association have not beenfully elucidated. MiRNAs are small non-coding RNAs that regulategene expression. Circulating miRNAs can be detected in body fluids.Aberrant expression of miRNAs in both tissues and fluids arelinked to several pathologies. Might plasma miRNAome associatedto MeS influence BCa development and progression? The aim ofthis work was to identify the circulating miRNAs in plasma of patientswith clinical features linked to MeS and their role in BCa.Healthy women from Hospital Militar Central (CABA) were recruitedand divided in two groups, control or MeS-linked disease (MeSL)when presented two or more of these conditions: BMI≥25.00 kg/m2,waist diameter≥82 cm or high blood pressure (systolic≥120, diastolic≥80). MiRNAs were isolated from plasma and a pool of each sampleswere hybridized to GeneChip® miRNA 4.0 Array (Affymetrix). We found 24 miRNAs (FSG1.5 and p value
