Resumen:
An empirical exploratory descriptive-type study is presented to learn about the interpersonal problem-solving processes in the case of features involved in the recall of short-term memory in the context of the cognitive skills in school-age boys and girls. The aims of the present study were: (a) to know what steps of the interpersonal problem-solving process the boys and girls remember, (b) to identify the dominance of cognitive contents – emotional and or behavioural – in the verbal report of memories and (c) to search for significant differences according to the various ages in relation to the aim set. (b). One hundred fifty boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 8 took part, all of them live in vulnerable social environments in the province of Mendoza – Argentina. The test of Interpersonal Cognitive Problem-Solving Skills (García Pérez and Magaz Lago, 1998) was used in order to evaluate the skills mentioned above. After the presentation of a distractive game task, open questions were asked to assess the recuperation of short-term memory in relation to the specific case of interpersonal problem-solving. The results showed differences in the type of contents and in the remembering of steps leading to interpersonal problem solving. This study represents a contribution to the search for the development of memory along childhood, as well as to the type of resources needed to face a conflictive interpersonal situation.
