Resumen:
Taxonomic congruence in the Tristiridae family (Orthoptera, Acridoidea).             Patterns of taxonomic congruence were examined in the 25 known Tristiridae species, using data sets based on external morphology, female genitalia and phallic complex. Both cluster analysis (UPGMA clustering) and ordination methods (principal component analysis and principal coordinate analysis) were employed. The phenetic relationships of the species based on the external morphology were highly congruent with those based on the female genitalia, but showed discrepances when the phallic complex was analized. The· species from similar habitats clustered togethe~ when the analysis was based on the external morphology and different "life forms" were recognized'! These groups were not set when the analysis was based on the phallic complex. Homoplasy is inferred to be represented in the phenetic analysis based on the external morphology while homologous similarity due to a common ancestor is supposed to be represented when the analysis is based on the phallic complex.
