This chapter provides an overview about the development of polymer nanocomposite scaffolds with potential drug delivery applications in bone tissue engineering (BTE). Special attention has been given to discuss current efforts for controlling the release of loaded bioactive molecules from multifunctional polymer nanocomposite matrices for potential bone tissue regeneration. The remaining challenges in the area are detailed, suggesting also future research directions.
