This paper presents an investigation about the features, practical and potential uses thatsocial spatial techniques have around the procurement of the territorial intelligenceprocesses. Three examples are exposed in which the spatial dimension is a priority: aterritorial information system (TIS), a typology of localities and a method for the makingof cartographic documents. The implementation of the examples is in function of a caseunder study in which the reactivation of a railway branch line to transport passengers isbeing researched
