Resumen:
The nucleation and propagation of Luders bands in strain softening
plastic solids is investigated using the Fleck-Hutchinson (1997) strain
gradient plasticity theory. Results obtained for a model 1D problem show
that the theory is able to handle softening and localisation in a
reliable way.
