The aim of this brief document is to suggest some ideas for a research project onglobal social change with a special focus on the emergence of new international ortransnational actors.Because it is difficult to define a global society, it is not easy to picture globalsocial change. There is no such thing as a global government, even if we recognize theimportance of some new international institutions. There is no civil society at theinternational level nor is there a constituted public sphere, like that which can beconceptualized at the national level. It is difficult to distinguish identities, symbols orany category of common recognition operating on a global scale. However, there aresome new phenomena related to the globalization process that should be analyzed.
