Resumen:
Microorganismsinteractwiththeir host and witheachother, establishingdynamicmicrobialcommunitystructures and functions. Microbialinteractionstake place at a chemicallevel, throughtheproduction of diffusiblemetabolitesorbymechanismsinvolvingdirectcontact. In thiswork, westudytheinteractionbetweentwosugarcaneendophyticisolatesclassified as BECA 336 and BECA 335aftergenomesequencing.Thetwoisolateswerespottedonsolidmediumusing a distancepatternthatallowedobservinggrowtheffects at differentranges. Whenthetwoisolateswere in closeproximity, BECA 336inhibitedBECA 335. Onthecontrary, at greaterdistances BECA 336stimulatedBECA 335 growth. In silicoanalysis and in vitroassaysappeared to indicatethatgrowth-stimulatingeffectismediated at least in partbythesiderophoreenterobactin, producedbyBECA 336.Theattempt of purification of the active compoundusing HPLC-UV-MS demostratedthatthepart of theextractthatpresentedactivitycouldcorrespond to DHBA-L-Ser.Whilegrowthstimulationshowedanintensitygradientconsistentwiththediffusion of a metabolite, inhibitiondisplayedan irregular patternthat rules outthispossibility. InhibitionwasenhancedunderconditionsfavoringBECA 336 motilitysuggestingthatthephenotypemight be contactdependent. Unravelinghowmicroorganismsinteractmaypavethewayfortheunderstanding of microbialcommunityassembly.
