Resumen:
This chapter aims to shed light on the relation between impulsivity and psychological, social, and cultural variables related to gender-based violence (GBV) in Latin America (Ecuador and Argentina). With this aim, we will first define impulsivity, focusing on its relation with emotional regulation. Next, we will analyze and compare the incidence of behaviors linked to high impulsivity in gender-based violence in intimate partner relationships, based on prevalence rates in Ecuador and Argentina. After that, we will introduce research that highlights the importance of the development of psychoeducation materials that facilitate that the public learns about the prevention of GBV. Finally, we will discuss conclusions and possible future research directions.
