Resumen:
In this work, Ni/CeO2 and Ni/Ce0.9Zr0.1O2 catalysts, with nanometric particle size and high catalytic activity in the partial oxidation of methane, were successfully prepared. CeO2 and Ce0.9Zr0.1O2 supports were synthesized by a pH-controlled glycine-nitrate gel-combustion route, and then impregnated with nickel nitrate salt solutions in order to achieve nickel contents of 9 and 50 wt.%. The catalysts have shown excellent morphological characteristics (specific surface area, pore volume, particle size and homogeneity) and stable catalytic performances in typical 6hr on-stream studies at 650 ºC. They have shown excellent catalytic behavior in the partial oxidation of methane, with methane conversions higher than 90% at temperatures above 650 ºC, H2 and CO selectivities close to 100 % and molar H2:CO ratio of 2(approx.).
