Descripción:
The air-purification experiments on 6 photocatalyitic concrete stones provided by Pavimentos de Tudela S.L. were performed from the 18th January 2010 till the 28th January 2010. The conducting tests were executed by Dr. Maria de los Milagros Ballari and were supervised by Prof. Dr. Jos Brouwers. The experiments were performed according to the standard ISO 22197-1:2007 for the nitric oxide (NO) removal and they included a pretreatment of the samples (removal of organic matter and washing with water), the pollutant removal test and the elution test. The photocatalytic pollutant removal test took about 8 hours per sample as the samples had to be photoirradiated for 5 hours. The inlet NO concentration was stabilized during 20 minutes previous to the starting point of the experiments. Subsequently, the by-pass valve to the reactor was opened allowing the test gas to flow into the photoreactor. The previous step was performed in the complete absence of photoirradiation. After 30 min, the sample was irradiated for 5 hours. Finally, the pollutant source was stopped and the UV radiation was switched off and the NOx concentration was recorded during 30 minutes. The elution test included the water volume record and the pH measurement, but it did not include the nitrate/nitrite concentration determination. During the total time of the experiments, the laboratory temperature was 22.5 ºC ± 2.5 ºC and the relative humidity was determined to be 50% ± 2%.
