Quantum and Photonic Efficiencies Evaluation of the Photocatalytic Inactivation of Bacteriophages Present in Dairy Industry Air

Resumen:
In this work, the photocatalytic inactivation of 4 phages infective to Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) contained in bioaerosols was investigated. Phages were nebulized using the 6-jet Collison nebulizer into the semi-pilot scale reactor, being assays performed during 100 min. Under this condition, 3 phages were completely inactivated within 80-100 min of treatment whereas titers of 1.6x102 PFU/mL (Plaque Forming Units/mL) were observed at the same time for 1 phage. Photonic and quantum inactivation efficiencies varying between 2.64 - 1.27x10-17 PFU/photon and 9.18 - 4.42x10-17 PFU/photon were obtained, respectively.
