Resumen:
A reconstruction of the phylogeny of the genus Gymnocalycium based on molecular information is presented, and its consequences on previously published infrageneric classification systems is discussed. The results of this study constitute important evidence in favour of a classification system of the genus largely based on the morphology of the seeds.
