Resumen:
This article approaches parliamentary control in the Argentine National Congress, a researchissue that has been studied scarcely by scholars and specialists. This concept of parliamentary controlregards a set of specific actions taken by any democratic parliamentary assembly in order to achieveaccountability of officers and political leaders, especially those in the executive branch. A special stage ofthe parliamentary control process is the so-called legislative oversight, which refers to a set of specificcontrol actions toward the bureaucratic agencies taken by legislators in parliamentary committees and/orby parliamentary subunits created for that purpose. In view of this, in the first place, this article analyzesthose two concepts from a comparative perspective. In the second place, the article revises the state of theliterature in relation to the Argentine case. Finally, it presents a summary of some empirical findings ofthe so-called Special Committees of Control (SCC). This SCC has been created in the ArgentineCongress by law for specific control purposes of some policies and bureaucratic agencies of the executivebranch.
