Resumen:
The crystalline aluminophosphate AlPO4-5 was impregnated with either cobalt nitrate or acetate and calcined at 300-900°C in air. The stability of the sieve after the impregnation and thermal treatment was followed by XRD. The reducibility of the prepared samples is mainly a function of the salt used. Methane and carbon monoxide are the almost exclusive products when the carbon dioxide hydrogenation is conducted at 280°C, 170 Torr (22 kPa) of total pressure and a hydrogen: carbon dioxide ratio 4:1. The turnover number for carbon dioxide conversion is not a function of the salt used in the catalyst preparation. In order to ascertain the role of the AlPO4-5 structure a series of cobalt catalysts dispersed on a variety of supports were studied under similar conditions. The data reported here, together with pertinent literature information, allow us to interpret both the reactivity with hydrogen and the catalytic behavior of CoAlPO4-5.
