Resumen:
Alkaline treatment of a partially cyclized mu/nu-carrageenan from Gigartina skottsbergii showed not to be reproducible respect to the yields and the molar ratios Gal:AnGal:sulfate of the modified derivatives. However this method followed by fractionation with potassium chloride proved to be very useful for studying the fine structure of carrageenans.
