Resumen:
Bio-oils derived from the pyrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass can be co-processed with conventional feedsocks in the catalytic cracking of hydrocarbons (FCC)1. Then, it is necessary to analyze the contribution of bio-oils to the typical FCC product distributions, particularly to coke. A previous thermal treatment can reduce up to 70 % the potential of bio-oil to form coke, which is higher than that in FCC feedstocks (vacuum gas oil, VGO)2. The product distributions in the conversion of pine sawdust bio-oil (BO) and the liquid product after its thermal treatment (TL) over two different laboratory reactors are compared in this work. An equilibrium commercial catalyst was used in a fixed-bed MAT reactor and a CREC Riser Simulator reactor3 (RisSim) at 500 ºC. The confined fluidized bed of the RisSim mimics the ideal transport fluidized bed of commercial units.
