Various feasible scenarios for the energy valorization of cow manure by meansof thermochemical routes were analyzed as an alternative to the traditional biological processes, which represent pollution sources and are not as efficient.The thermochemical processing of biomass has been widely studied with traditionallignocellulosic raw materials, such as wood sawdust and crop residues.However, investigations with livestock wastes are scarce. The pyrolysis of cowmanure produced three product streams (solids, liquids, and gases) which areuseful as energy and/or chemical sources. The conversion, as well as the yieldsof hydrocarbons and oxygenated compounds, increased with pyrolysis temperatures.
