Resumen:
In our previous Letter [Phys. Rev. Lett. 92 (2994) 057201], we presented density functional based evidence that monoatomic wires and nanocontacts of Pd could exhibit ferromagnetism, unlike either metallic or free atomic Pd. In their Comment, Alexandre et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 96 (2006) 079701] raise some doubts whether generalized gradient approximation (GGA) or local density approximation (LDA) are the appropriate forms to consider the exchange correlation potential on these systems, suggesting that LDA could be more appropriate, yielding a nonmagnetic nanowire. Here we present some more in-depth considerations and results from our own Pd monatomic wire and fcc bulk calculations.
