Resumen:
Results of XRF análisis of 450 obsidian simples from archaeological sites of the province of Mendoza (Argentina) and from central Chile, between 32 and 37 degrees south. The sample includes material from archaeological sites from different environments and with dates that range from 9000 to 300 años BP. We compared these data to previous NAA results. Results indicate that all known sources were utilizad, but with different intensity. Generally the cordilleran (high altitude) sources were more widely exploited than tose located in lower, extra-Andean regions
