This paper presents a method for automatic insulin bolus shaping basedon residual insulin or insulin-on-board (IOB) estimation. This methodology allowsthe pump to generate the so-called super-bolus to compensate for high glycemicindex meals by computing the extra amount of bolus and basal cut off time fromthe duration of insulin action (DIA) of the patient. In this way, it automaticallyreestablishes basal insulin when IOB reaches its basal level, thus avoiding unnecessarydetrimental transients generated with manual or apriori computations. The potentialof this method, registered on patent and priority requests Garelli et al. (2015) andGarelli et al. (2016), are illustrated via in-silico trials in the FDA-accepted UVaSimulator. The results indicates that with the same amount of administered insulinas the standard treatment a better performance is achieved
