Resumen:
This work deals with the study of thermal effects produced by a granitic intrusion on the so called Puncoviscana Formation at Santa Rosa de Tastil, Province of Salta, Two places were selected for the investigation; Estación Incahuasi arid Santa Rosa de Tastil; within the area, the contact aureole is well exposed and the contact between granite and country rock is better developed. Three zones of progressive metamorphism were recognized: 1. Zone of pelites and partially metamorphosed pelitic rocks. 2. Zone of potted pelites, and 3. Zone of hornfels. Tectonic effects were responsible of the occurrence of inverted zones and the apparently “cold” contacts between granite and the country rock. The main key mineral developed in rocks of zones 2 and 3 as cordierite; it grew as spots and porphyroblasts in pelites and as xenoblastic aggregates in hornfelses. The values of H20 show the distribution of rocks within the classified zones and the invertion of them in one studied section.
