Resumen:
We consider the problem of passive localization of a lowgrazing-angle source employing polarization sensitive sensorarrays. We present a general polarimetric signal modelthat takes into account the direct field and the multipathinterference produced by reflections from smooth and roughsurfaces. Applying the Cram´er-Rao bound (CRB) andmean-square angular error (MSAE) bound, we analyzethe performance of different array configurations, whichinclude an electromagnetic vector sensor (EMVS), a distributedelectromagnetic component array (DEMCA), anda distributed electric dipole array (DEDA). By computingthese bounds, we show significant advantages in usingthe proposed diversely polarized arrays compared with theconventional scalar-sensor arrays.
