Resumen:
Abstract—Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radars withwidely-separated transmitters and receivers are useful to discriminatea target from clutter using the spatial diversity of thescatterers in the illuminated scene. We consider the detectionof targets in compound-Gaussian clutter fitting for examplescatterers with heavy-tailed distributions for high-resolutionand/or low-grazing-angle radars in the presence of sea or foliageclutter. First, we introduce a data model using the inversegamma distribution to represent the clutter texture. Then, weapply the parameter-expanded expectation-maximization (PXEM)algorithm to estimate the clutter texture and speckle, aswell as the target parameters. We develop a generalized likelihoodratio (GLR) test target detector using the estimates and show theadvantages of MIMO using Monte Carlo simulations.
