Resumen:
CTLA-4 is an immune checkpoint expressed in T reg and activated Tcells that transmits inhibitory signals to T cells and down-regulatesimmune responses. On this basis, there is a growing interest in thepossible therapeutic benefits of blocking CTLA-4 as a means ofenhancing immune responses against cancer. In fact ipilimumab ? amonoclonal anti-CTLA-4 antibody ? was recently approved for thetreatment of human advanced melanoma. However, despite thesepromissory expectations, most experimental studies in this topicwere performed in mice bearing strongly immunogenic chemicallyinducedtumors that would not be the best models for clinical cancer.CONCLUSIONS
