Resumen:
Environmental catalysis applied to wastewater treatment is a growing R&D area and the assessment of emerging technologies still appears as a challenging task. Among recent progresses in this field, Catalytic Wet Hydrogen Peroxide Oxidation (CWHPO) is an advanced oxidation process which offers an attractive and economic alternative for the remediation of organic pollutants present in industrial effluents. This technology is based on the generation of highly reactive hydroxyl radicals from H2O2 decomposition over a heterogeneous catalyst, at mild operating conditions. In the last years, several studies about CWHPO processes have been carried out in batch operations indicating a good perspective for its application in continuous processes. However, only a few works dealt with the treatment of aromatic pollutants by means of continuous processes in the presence of solid catalysts.
