Descripción:
Sodium sulphide is largely used as unharing agent in tannery in spite that all sulphide compounds can generate toxic products, which are hazardous and highly dangerous to handle (1).  Its total replacement as unhairing agent is a subject of concern in research institutes and in tannery. Enzymatic unhairing based on commercial proteolytic, lipolytic, and amilolytic enzymes preserving collagen structure, looks as a potential alternative. (2).  Bases leading   this change are: to diminish effluents pollution and environment impact, to recover partially degraded hair(3) to obtain a solid waste with possible industry applications and appropriate hides for leather production. [4 , 5, 6] . Yates proposes  that the  time taken for the active depilatory enzymes applied to diffuse through skin to the follicle site is one of the factors governing the rate of enzyme depilation[ 7,8] The design of an appropriate unhairing system it is of importance to take into account the possible  enzyme routes through  skin layers to reach their active sites [9] . Zugno [10] relates  the mechanism of penetration  of enzymes with epidermis barrier. The lipid matrix of the stratum corneum plays an important role in the permeability of substances through the skin.[11] Several experimental techniques were applied to investigate this membrane, among them Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy have been used to decode lipid organization in human epidermis.[12,13]
