Characterizing ADC Channel Performance in the Underground Muon Detector

Resumen:
In this GAP note, we present single muon simulations with Offline to obtain the mean charge leftby a single muon in the ADC channel. In the field, the ADC channel is calibrated using atmosphericmuons and sub-threshold events detected in parallel to the shower data acquisition. In order tocompare with data, single muon simulations were performed in Offline following the distributionson energy and zenith angle of the atmospheric muons. The simulated muons were asked to satisfythe same triggering condition in the buried UMD modules as requested in the field. The averagecharge obtained in this work, was finally tested with proton showers of energy 1×1018 eV to assessthe reconstruction bias and resolution.
