Resumen:
In this work we aim at statistically characterising the galaxy population of the Fornax cluster (D ~ 20 Mpc) in the 12 optical bands of the Southern Photometric Local Universe Survey (S-PLUS). The total area covered by this study is more than 200 square degrees, corresponding to the combination of 106 S-PLUS fields, on which a custom SExtractor photometry focus on extended sources was performed.Though S-PLUS is expected to provide photo-zs, this technique will not be suitable to identify new members at the Fornax distance. We performed a principal component analysis (PCA) on the structural and photometric parameters of: (i) a spectroscopically galaxy sample of confirmed Fornax members, (ii) a spectroscopically sample of background galaxies, and (iii) a sample of objects identified by SExtractor with no radial velocities. Additionally, a Random Forest classifier was carried out in order to identify new Fornax members not catalogued before.
