Resumen:
Regulation of protein turnover is essential for controlling cellular responsesand developmental outputs. The highly regulated ubiquitin-proteasome system(UPS) is involved in the modulation of every aspect of plant life and, together withnitric oxide (NO), regulates numerous developmental and stress-relatedprocesses mediated by hormonal signalings. Accumulated evidence points outthat NO sensing is executed partially through UPS-dependent proteindegradation. This chapter focused on NO sensing mediated by UPS-regulatedproteolysis that controls different plant physiological processes. We discussextensively the current understanding of the well-known NO sensing mediated bythe N-degron pathway, as well as NO sensing based on post-translationalmodifications (PTM) with an emphasis on recent studies.
