In this work we analyze the Kb emission spectrum (Kb1,3 main line, Kbx and Kb0 satellite lines at lower energy) of different phosphorus compounds belonging to the PO−3 4 (phosphates)and P2O−4 7 (pyrophosphates) clusters. The Kb1,3 linehas its origin in transitions from a molecular orbital populatedby 3p electrons of the P and by 2p electrons of ligand atom Lto the 1s shell of P, while the transition 6a1 ! 1a1 originatesthe Kbx satellite line. On the other hand, the Kb0 line appearsas a consequence of transitions from molecular orbital statewith 3p−P electrons and 2s−L electrons to the 1s shell of P.Thus, the energy position of Kb0 line relative to the main lineKb1,3 will be constant for each type of ligand atom L [1, 2].Information is reported on the changes of the PKb spectrumwhen its chemical environment is modified. The main parametersanalyzed are the energy of satellite lines, their relativepositions, intensities and natural linewidths.
