Resumen:
A new analyzer-based x-ray phase contrast imaging (PCI) setup based on channel-cut crystals for the Laboratorio Nacional de Luz Sincrotron (LNLS - Brazilian synchrotron) is presented and characterized. A good agreement between the simulated and measured cross section pro¯les of the acquired images (polypropylene tube) were obtained. The simulated cross section imageswere developed based on the Snell law considering a ray tracing of an incoming monochromatic plane wave beam being refracted and attenuated by the sample. Apparent absorption contrast and refraction angle images were also obtained through the di®raction enhanced imaging (DEI) algorithm. The property of PCI to produce contrast of di®erent features with the same x-ray attenuation coe±cient was exploited with a sample of polipropilene discs embedded in paraffin wax. The present results show that this new PCI setup is powerful for acquiring PCI´s, improvedconventional attenuation radiographs and DEI´s. It could be used as an standard PCI setup at the LNLS. Future studies on DEI computed tomography and the use of powerful mathematical processing like multiple imaging radiography (MIR) are being developed.
