Resumen:
At present is very important replacing polluting energy sources by renewable and clean energies that are ready to be used. This fact requires solving the problem of a proper storage of the generated energy usually as electricity. The electrical energy storage must meet the following conditions: clean, economical, efficient, long life, safe and high specific capacities (mass and volume). New developments on lithium ion battery technology are a good way to meet most of these requirements in Argentina for the important reserve of Lithium in the north part of the country. Current research is carried out to improve its future performance. In this regard, the work in the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP) is focused on development new active materials for Li ion battery electrodes.
